General election of 1819
The general election of 1819 was held on 7 October 1819 for the 63 seats of the Assembly, returned from seven regions of nine members each. Two parties offered themselves to the electors. The Assembly Union won the greater number of seats, with 36 against 27 for the Reed Party, and returned members in all seven regions, as did its opponent. Mean turnout across the regions is recorded at 72.7 per cent. Report of the election.

The return shows a chamber divided along lines familiar from the election of 1814, with the Union's advantage concentrated in the west and the capital and the Reed Party's strength holding in the Ostrand, the Osmoor and the Sudmark. The Clerk records that the seven regional counts were completed and delivered to this office in the ordinary course, and that no petition against a return had been lodged as at the date of this return.

Westgau returned the largest Union majority of any region, its 89.0 per cent turnout the highest recorded, while the Ostrand, alone among the seven, returned a Reed majority of members from a Reed plurality of the poll exceeding three in five. The Capital District, seat of the Chancellery, divided seven to two for the Union, a margin unaltered since the previous return of 1814.
