The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

The Clerk of the Assembly makes return of the general election held on 4 October 1829, being the sixth general election of the Assembly, in which sixty-three seats across seven regions of nine were contested between two parties. The Assembly Union returned the largest number of members, with thirty-six seats against twenty-seven for the Reed Party, and both parties returned members in every one of the seven regions. Mean turnout across the regions was 76.0 per cent. Report of the election.

The Union's return was carried chiefly upon its strength in the Capital District and in Westgau, where it took seven seats apiece of the nine returned, upon shares of 75.1 and 74.1 per cent of the vote respectively. Turnout in Westgau, at 87.0 per cent, was the highest recorded of the seven regions; that of the Capital District, at 68.0 per cent, the lowest. The Reed Party's return rested upon the Ostrand, Kesselhöh and the Osmoor, in each of which it returned five members to the Union's four upon shares clustered narrowly about fifty-six to fifty-seven per cent. In the Sudmark and in Norrfeld the Union recovered the lead by narrower margins, returning five members to four in each upon shares of 59.1 and 55.7 per cent, upon turnouts of 77.0 and 70.0 per cent.
