The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

This return is made by the Clerk of the Assembly upon the writs returned from the seven regions following the general election held on 7 October 1884, the seventeenth such election held under the Assembly's standing order. Three parties contested the sixty-three seats: the Assembly Union, the Reed Party and the Continuity Party, each returning members in all seven regions. The Assembly Union returns the largest number of members, twenty-four, against twenty-one for the Reed Party and eighteen for the Continuity Party. Across the seven regions turnout ran at a mean of 79.0 per cent, from a low of 59.0 per cent in the Ostrand to a high of 89.0 per cent in Kesselhöh. The Capital District and the Osmoor return the Continuity Party at the head of the poll; the Ostrand and the Sudmark return the Reed Party; Kesselhöh, Norrfeld and Westgau return the Assembly Union. No region returns fewer than three parties to its nine seats, and no party is without a seat anywhere in the country.
