The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

The general election of 1914 returned members for all sixty-three seats of the Assembly, distributed across the seven regions of nine seats each. Four parties contested the poll. The Reed Party (The Reed Party) returned the largest number of members, nineteen, though no party commanded a majority of the House. Full particulars are set out below. Report of the election.

National result

The Reed Party (The Reed Party) returned nineteen members on a mean regional share of 27.7 per cent, holding at least one seat in every region. The Assembly Union (The Assembly Union) followed with eighteen seats on a mean share of 29.7 per cent, the highest of any party, its vote concentrated to greater effect in fewer regions than the Reed Party's. The Continuity Party (The Continuity Party) took fifteen seats on 24.0 per cent, and the Workers' Front (The Workers' Front) eleven on 18.6 per cent. All four parties returned members in every one of the seven regions, a circumstance the Clerk's office notes without further comment as required by the standing order governing this return.

Result by region

Turnout ranged from 59.0 per cent in The Sudmark to 85.0 per cent in The Osmoor, against a mean across the regions of 68.6 per cent. The Reed Party led the poll in three regions, the Sudmark, the Osmoor and The Ostrand; the Assembly Union led in The Capital District and Norrfeld; the Continuity Party led in Kesselhöh; and the Workers' Front led, narrowly, in Westgau, where it took 33.7 per cent of the vote against the Assembly Union's 33.6 per cent, a margin of one-tenth of a point returning an additional member to no party's clear advantage over the other.
