The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

The Clerk of the Assembly returns the results of the general election held on 3 October 1929, the twenty-sixth general election, in which four parties contested sixty-three seats across seven regions of nine members each. The Assembly Union returned the largest number of members, eighteen, with the Continuity Party also returning eighteen and the Reed Party seventeen; the Workers' Front returned ten. Mean turnout across the seven regions was 80.6 per cent. Report of the election.

The return records a chamber closely divided between the Assembly Union and the Continuity Party, each holding eighteen seats, with the Reed Party a single seat short of parity and returning members in every region as the two larger parties did. The Workers' Front alone failed to return a member in one region, the Ostrand, where its share of the vote stood at 5.2 per cent, the lowest recorded by any party in any region. No party approached a majority of the sixty-three seats, and the Clerk notes that the four parties together contested all seven regions without exception.

The Ostrand returned the highest turnout of the seven regions, 89.0 per cent, and gave the Reed Party its strongest result anywhere, 51.5 per cent of the vote and five of the nine seats. The Sudmark returned the lowest turnout, 61.0 per cent, yet the Reed Party carried it as well, with 45.1 per cent and four seats. The Capital District and Norrfeld were carried by the Assembly Union, the Osmoor and Kesselhöh by the Continuity Party, and Westgau alone by the Workers' Front, whose 39.3 per cent there was its best return in any region and its only regional plurality.

Return of the Clerk of the Assembly. All sixty-three seats returned at the general election of 3 October 1929 stood vacated on 6 October 1934 save where an earlier vacation is shown against the member's name, each such seat having fallen vacant in the ordinary course before the dissolution of that Assembly.
