The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

The general election of 1944 was held on 4 October, the twenty-ninth general election to the Assembly, with four parties contesting sixty-three seats across seven regions of nine. Mean turnout across the regions was 72.6 per cent. The Assembly Union returned the largest number of members, with twenty seats, ahead of the Continuity Party with seventeen, the Reed Party with sixteen, and the Workers' Front with ten. The Sudmark returned the highest turnout of the regions, at 88.0 per cent, and Kesselhöh the lowest, at 59.0 per cent. Of the seven regions, only Kesselhöh returned members of all four parties in a spread of no more than one seat apiece; the Ostrand alone returned no member of the Workers' Front, whose vote there stood at 4.1 per cent. Westgau, the region of highest turnout at 89.0 per cent, was also the only region carried by the Workers' Front, whose share of 41.3 per cent there exceeded its mean share nationally by some twenty-four points.

Return of the Clerk of the Assembly. All sixty-three seats returned at the general election of 4 October 1944 were vacated on 4 October 1949 upon the dissolution for the following general election, save where the roll above records an earlier date: the seats of Emma Hallin, Karl Wendl, Kurt Rebhuhn, Edvard Kitel, Hilde Marsch, Friedl Meholt and Josef Deichen were vacated on 28 July 1949, 17 March 1948, 4 April 1945, 8 April 1948, 27 May 1949, 10 September 1946 and 19 November 1948 respectively.
