The Assemblyof Schwartzistan

The general election of 1969 returned sixty-three members to the Assembly from seven regions of nine seats each, four parties having put forward candidates in every region. The Reed Party returned the largest number of members, nineteen, followed by The Continuity Party with eighteen, The Assembly Union with seventeen, and The Workers' Front with nine. Mean turnout across the seven regions was 75.9 per cent. Report of the election.

No single party commanded a majority of the returned members, the Reed Party's nineteen seats standing against a combined forty-four held by the other three parties. The Union took its largest delegation in the Capital District, where it led the poll with 37.7 per cent of the vote and returned three of the nine members; the Workers' Front, alone among the four parties, failed to return a member in one region, the Sudmark, where its 5.6 per cent of the vote yielded no seat. The closest regional contest by vote share was in Kesselhöh, where the four parties finished within five points of one another, the Reed Party leading on 27.7 per cent against the Workers' Front's 25.0 per cent, the Continuity Party's 24.6 per cent, and the Union's 22.7 per cent.

Return of the Clerk of the Assembly. All sixty-three seats returned at the general election of 1969 were vacated on 6 October 1974 on the dissolution for the following general election, save for those vacated earlier by death or resignation as noted above: the seat of Viktor Ristmann, Kesselhöh, on 9 December 1970; of Karl Nurmann, Westgau, on 26 January 1972; of Otto Mossbach, The Osmoor, on 6 April 1972; of Roland Grau, Westgau, on 13 February 1973; of Ilse Brenn, The Ostrand, on 8 March 1973; and of Tomas Rechel, The Sudmark, on 16 June 1973.
